NTT DoCoMo provides a service for monitoring students

NTT DoCoMo provides a service for monitoring students for education professionals.
The Japanese leading mobile operator announced an objective of developing a new ASP service to monitor students outside the school via mobile for next spring. Known Kodomonita (Kodomo= Child, monita = monitor), this service is designed for education professionals such schools or classes after school. It will announce the departure of children from one place to parents via mail on mobile phones to inform on the whereabouts with GPS, or the school can send information by mail to children and parents.

In recent years, Japan has undergone a series of tragedies involving children missing or killed. Thus, a demand for better monitoring is growing from parents, and some services are already available. The service that NTT DoCoMo will develop will be provided in ASP, which does not require a significant investment for education professionals. This service provides 3 functions: sending mail to parents when a child leaves school, sending information of geographical position on the child, and sending messages to parents and children since the School.

At first, this service is only available on the terminal operator, the F801i and SA800i, but the operator will expand the range of mobile, terminals to other mobile operators.
